On the banks of the beautiful Merrimack River, Newburyport, MA

The American Yacht Club is host to many regattas every year, including the Mayors Cup , the Leukemia Cup Regatta in memory of Brian Hughes, the Chet Young Regatta, and the Mount Gay Rum Regatta. Along with these events, the AYC also organizes a sailing school to encourage and educate younger sailors in the techniques and skills of safe sailing.

Popular Learn to Sail Program

As an important part of our community, the American Yacht Club provides a great way to learn to sail and to hone sailing and racing skills

For over 50 years the AYC, through the Newburyport Summer Sailing Program, has been providing instruction to its members, families and the community. Over the years our staff instructors, using a fleet of eight boats, annually teach over 80 children the joy of sailing!

The Adult Sailing Course is being offered again in 2008 as a result of many requests from the community. Please visit our sailing school pages for more information.
