Laser Fleet

Spirited competition on the beautiful Merrimack River, Newburyport, MA

About the Laser

To many sailors, this is the ultimate racing machine. The Laser is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering, and trimming techniques as well as tactical excellence. It's no wonder the International Sailing Federation awarded the Laser Olympic status!

Originally designed as a car topper, the laser is durable and easy to rig, steer, and transport. It's a perfect sailboat for the beginner.

If it's racing you want, there are top-flight racing events for sailors of all ages and skill levels from the local club level to the national level and even on to the World and Olympic level. There are more than 1000 Laser events to choose from each year.

The class magazine Laser Sailor will keep you up to date on future events, scores from past events, and helpful racing tips.
